Coming on your own
Can I come on my own?
Yes. House of Raj welcomes women travelling solo as well as friends travelling together. You can choose a private room or ask to share a twin room with another solo traveller.
Is this a women-only trip?
Yes, our India journeys is a women-only group trip. If you would like to discuss whether the trip is right for you, contact Natasha directly.
Do I need to have travelled to India before?
No previous visit is needed to enquire. Read the route and practical information, then talk to Natasha about the pace, walking and support you would need to enjoy it.
Who will host the trip?
Natasha Barnett personally hosts our India journeys. She lived in India for more than ten years. Local guides are also included in the programme.
How large is the group, and is there an age limit?
The journey is described as a small-group trip. Each departure has up to 20 guests across both trip lengths. Ask Natasha about suitability before reserving a place.
Will I have time to myself?
The itinerary combines group activities with leisure time, including time to explore Pushkar. Ask Natasha about optional activities and how much independent time is planned if this is important to you.
Rooms & the journey
Can I have my own room?
Yes. Private rooms are £1,550 for One week or £2,450 for Two weeks. Ask Natasha to confirm availability and the final booking total before paying.
How does twin sharing work?
Twin sharing costs £1,150 for One week or £2,050 for Two weeks, per person based on two sharing. You may travel with a friend or request to be paired with another solo female traveller. One twin-room booking is for one traveller, not for the whole room.
Where will we stay?
The itinerary includes mid-range hotels and guesthouses. All travellers stay in the same hotels. Request the confirmed hotel list and room details before booking; destination photographs on this website do not promise accommodation at the pictured buildings.
How do we travel between places?
Transfers are included. The itinerary describes travel mainly by a private air-conditioned tourist van, with a possible short train journey depending on operations. The Udaipur–Delhi return flight is included and arranged by the organiser.
How much walking is involved?
The programme includes city walks, markets, forts and palaces. Exact walking distances, stairs, rest opportunities and vehicle access have not been specified. Discuss your needs before booking so Natasha can assess suitability with the local providers.

Before you go
Do I need a visa?
Requirements depend on your passport and circumstances. British citizens generally need a visa unless covered by an applicable OCI exemption. Check current entry requirements and use the official Indian visa website. Do not rely on an old brochure for visa fees, eligibility or processing times.
How long must my passport be valid?
For a full British citizen passport, current FCDO guidance states at least six months’ validity after arrival and two blank pages. Check the current rules for your situation, including any arrival forms, before travelling. Other passports may have different requirements.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. The trip itinerary says you must arrange your own insurance, and it is excluded from the price. Check that your policy covers your itinerary, planned activities, medical needs and cancellation risks, and read the FCDO advice before booking.
Which vaccinations or health precautions do I need?
Speak to a travel-health professional about your itinerary and medical history. TravelHealthPro’s India guidance recommends a consultation ideally four to six weeks before travel, although a later appointment is still worthwhile. Advice should be personal to you.
What should I pack and wear?
The itinerary recommends loose, breathable clothing that covers shoulders, chest and knees, comfortable walking shoes and a lightweight scarf for religious sites. Add sun protection and your usual personal essentials. Request the final packing and luggage guidance before departure.
What currency should I take?
India uses the Indian rupee (INR). Plan access to local cash as well as a payment card, and check your bank’s overseas fees. Check official currency import/export rules and current exchange rates; the older brochure’s fixed exchange-rate example should not be used for budgeting.
Food, wellbeing & support
Is India safe for women travellers?
There is no risk-free way to travel. Read the FCDO advice, including its guidance for women and discuss the route, accommodation, transport and on-trip support with Natasha. Group travel does not replace normal precautions or suitable insurance.
What will we eat? Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Breakfast is included at the hotels. The itinerary describes other meals at selected or recommended restaurants, with lunch and dinner paid separately. Tell Natasha about dietary needs before booking and ask what providers can accommodate. Do not assume allergen-free preparation.
Can I drink the tap water?
The organiser’s itinerary advises against drinking tap water and recommends bottled drinking water, including for brushing teeth. Follow current travel-health advice on food and water hygiene and seek personalised guidance if you have health concerns.
Can I join with a medical condition or accessibility requirement?
Please discuss suitability with Natasha before reserving. Ask about stairs, walking surfaces, vehicle access, room facilities and assistance. For medical decisions, consult your clinician. Do not send medical records or passport scans in an initial ordinary email.
How will I stay connected and contact someone in an emergency?
The itinerary says Natasha will share a local contact number closer to departure and can help with obtaining a local data SIM. Request the full support and emergency-contact plan before departure, and save it offline alongside your insurer’s assistance number.
Are festival celebrations or animal activities included?
Festival dates and local arrangements vary between departures. Ask Natasha what is included in yours. No particular festival celebration or animal interaction is promised; ask about any proposed animal activity and its welfare standards before choosing to take part.
